School of Environment and Energy Engineering
GreetingGreetings from the Dean
Some major issues humanity must address include the climate crisis and environmental pollution. The international community is mobilizing all its capabilities to achieve a zero-emission society by 2050, and is also striving to build an infrastructure that can prepare for the impact of the climate crisis. In this regard, the importance of 'Environment and Energy Engineering' is increasing, and there is a demand for nurturing experts who study specialized environmental fields, such as atmospheric and marine sciences, water resources, ecology, and material and energy sciences. In response to these needs, the School of Environment and Energy Engineering in GIST, positioning itself as one of the best research hubs in the world, provides excellent research and educational opportunities in the fields of 'Atmosphere and Climate Change', 'Safe Water and Ecology', and 'Sustainable Energy and Resources'. In the "2020 World University Ranking" released by QS, a global university ranking agency in the UK, GIST ranked fourth in the world in the 'citations per faculty' category, and the research fund per faculty reached 760 million won in 2021. We are proud that our school played a major role in the brilliant results of GIST. In order to continue our excellence, we are currently inviting professors who have superior research achievements in various environmental fields, and are focusing on fostering future experts who will help in responding to the climate crisis and achieving carbon neutrality. We welcome your interest in becoming a future leader in the field of Environment and Energy Engineering.
Best regards,
Prof. Yunho Lee
